Our leadership built and sold Boca Pharmacal to Endo Pharmaceuticals for $225 million, proving our ability to identify, develop, and commercialize products in niche markets that larger companies overlook. That success taught us what works: focus, execution, and filling real gaps in the market.

Today, e5 Pharma and our sister company Mizner Bioscience operate as a virtual, capital-efficient platform for human and animal generic pharmaceuticals. We develop and own our regulatory filings (ANDAs/ANADAs), maintain direct relationships with major wholesalers and retailers, and distribute through our own DSCSA-compliant 3PL logistics partner.

1998

Founded in 1998 by the CEO of e5 Pharma, Boca was a privately held pharmaceutical R&D company with full marketing and distribution capabilities.

The company focused on lower-volume items often overlooked by larger generic manufacturers. Boca markets over 30 products and maintains a strong pipeline of lower-cost generic alternatives.

2006

Boca Pharmacal builds

extensive generics portfolio

Received FDA approvals for multiple ANDAs including low-APAP hydrocodone formulations. These were complex products bigger manufacturers wouldn’t touch. Proved Boca Pharmacal could execute on difficult, high-value niche medications.

2013

Boca Pharmacal Acquired for $225M by Endo Health Solutions

e5 Pharma CEO Bob Edwards built Boca Pharmacal from 1998 into a $225M acquisition. Specialized in niche generics (controlled substances, semisolids, solutions) that bigger players ignored. The sale proved there’s real value in focusing on the gaps.

2017

Launched e5 Pharma,

brought phenobarbital to market

Started e5 Pharma to manufacture specialty generics no one else wanted to make. First product: phenobarbital, a critical drug with almost no suppliers in the market.

2018

Launched Mizner Bioscience, veterinary generics manufacturer

Started Mizner Bioscience to make FDA-approved veterinary generics and supplements for companion and production animals. Built it into a growing line of products that fill real gaps in animal health.

2019

e5 Pharma receives FDA approval for Diazoxide Suspension

Received FDA clearance for Diazoxide Oral Suspension, a treatment for low blood sugar in dogs with insulinoma. Vets were using compounded or human versions before this. Available on Amazon and Chewy.

2019

First generic Clomicalm FDA approved for Mizner Bioscience

Got FDA approval for Clomipramine Hydrochloride tablets, the first generic version of Clomicalm. A win for pet owners looking for affordable anxiety treatment for dogs.

2021

Mizner Bioscience launches Nobatol, first vet-labeled phenobarbital for dogs

Brought Nobatol to market as the first FDA-approved veterinary phenobarbital for canine seizures. Filled a gap where vets had to use human formulations off-label.
